Easy, Cheap Snack Recipes


Ranch Pretzels

1 package large thick pretzels
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix (or homemade)
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp dill weed
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Break pretzels into bite size pieces and place in a large bowl. Combine remaining ingredients, pour over pretzels. Stir to coat. Pour into ungreased cookie sheet I usually use my jelly roll pan. Bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour, stirring about every 15 min. Makes 12 cups.

No-Bake Party Mix

8 cups crispix cereal
2 1/2 cups miniature pretzels
2 1/2 cups bite size cheddar cheese crackers (goldfish work great)
3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix (or make your own)

In heavy freezer bag, combine all ingredients, seal and toss gently to mix. Store in an airtight container. Makes 12 cups.

Indoor S’mores

8 cups Golden Graham Cereal
5 cups miniature marshmallows
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet)
1/4 cup light corn syrup
5 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup miniature marshmallows, if desired
Into large bowl, measure cereal. Butter 13×9-inch pan. In large microwavable bowl, microwave 5 cups marshmallows, the chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter uncovered on High 2 minutes to 3 minutes 30 seconds, stirring after every minute, until melted and smooth when stirred. Stir in vanilla.
Pour over cereal; quickly toss until completely coated. Stir in 1 cup marshmallows.
Press mixture evenly in pan, using buttered back of spoon. Let stand uncovered at least 1 hour, or refrigerate if you prefer a firmer bar. For squares, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store loosely covered at room temperature up to 2 days.
Stove-Top Directions: Into large bowl, measure cereal. Butter 13×9-inch pan. In 3-quart saucepan, heat 5 cups marshmallows, the chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Continue as directed above.





Peanut Butter Bumble Bee Snacks


1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 cup banana chips
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Wax paper

In a bowl, mix peanut butter, powdered sugar, butter and graham cracker crumbs together.
Next, shape the peanut butter mixture into ovals, forming the bumble bee bodies.
 Place the peanut butter bumble bees on a sheet of wax paper. Drizzle chocolate syrup over the peanut butter bumble bees, making stripes. Place 2 chocolate chips on each peanut butter bumble bee.  These will be the eyes.Break a banana chip in half and stick the pieces on each side of the peanut butter bumble bees.  These will be the wings. Let the chocolate set for a couple of minutes.
